THE STORY BEHIND ANDREW CUT
Andrew Cut doesn’t just make music.
He turns stories into music.
Every artist has a story. Mine began with a love for music, a fascination with DJs and mixes, and a musical journey that has continued to evolve over the years.
From my early days as a DJ and my time with BIGMIX FM to producing my own music, every chapter has left its mark on the person and artist I am today.
WHERE THE JOURNEY BEGAN
Born in 1969, I grew up with the music of the 80s and 90s. The sounds of those years became an important part of my youth, with Eurodance leaving a particularly strong impression on me.
That music never really left me. Even today, producing Eurodance connects me with a part of my youth. It keeps me creative, curious and mentally active — and reminds me where an important part of my musical journey began.
FROM LISTENER TO DJ
As I discovered more and more web radios, I eventually came across a special kind of radio station: mix radios that focused entirely on mixes of all kinds.
Some DJs performed their mixes live, and I was fascinated by what they were able to create. It wasn’t just about playing music — it was about taking individual tracks and turning them into something new.
I wanted to learn how to do that myself. So I started looking into what I would need and eventually bought my first DJ controller, a NUMARK Mixtrack Pro.
That was the beginning of my journey into live mixing.
STARTING OUR OWN RADIO STATION — BIGMIX FM
As I spent more time in the world of web radio, I began to notice that things were not always as I had hoped. Some stations were chaotic, lacked discipline, and were often unfair.
At some point, I decided that I wanted to do things differently. Together with my then life partner, I decided to start our own mix radio station.
We called it BIGMIX FM.
For me, this was more than just starting another web radio station.
It was the beginning of creating a place where music, DJs and mixes could come together in a way that felt right to us.
THE PEOPLE BEHIND BIGMIX FM
One of the DJs I met through BIGMIX FM was DJ Mysticman, who became a regular part of our radio schedule.
He was especially well known for his Friday Night Mixes and Saturday Night Mixes. Many listeners knew exactly when he would be on air. Friday and Saturday nights were special moments at BIGMIX FM — our radio chat would be packed with listeners waiting for his mixes.
What started back then as a connection through BIGMIX FM has lasted to this day. I am still in close contact with DJ Mysticman.
A LITTLE PIECE OF BIGMIX FM HISTORY
BIGMIX FM was supported by DJs and megamixers from different countries who enjoyed being part of our station. Some of them created special mixes for BIGMIX FM — not because they had to, but because they wanted to support what we had created.
Each of these mixes included our BIGMIX FM radio jingle and became part of the station’s history.

BIGMIX FM was not only supported by DJs and megamixers. Through the station, I also met people who contributed in other creative ways. Daniel Käser created this official promotional trailer for BIGMIX FM — another little piece of the station’s history that has remained.

THE NAME THAT BECAME ANDREW CUT
The name Andrew Cut was actually created for me by a fellow DJ from my web radio days, when I was looking for a fitting DJ name.
His idea was simple. Since my name is Andreas, he suggested “Andrew”.
At the time, I was creating a lot of mixes with Ableton, cutting tracks apart and putting them back together in new ways. He suggested “Cut” because of the way I worked with the tracks — and together, the two words created the name:
Andrew Cut
I liked it immediately. It didn’t sound like just another typical DJ name. It felt different — and somehow, it felt right.
I have carried that name with me for more than 16 years.
WHEN ANDREW CUT BECAME MORE THAN A NAME
The more music I produced myself, the better I became. The positive feedback I received motivated me and gradually brought me closer to the name that had originally been just my radio DJ name.
Andrew Cut is no longer just a name.
